On the bright side, and I do mean BRIGHT, the weather is sunshine and warm and I am SO happy about it! Yesterday, Sarah, Leslie, Jana and Branden came over and we tie dyed on our day off! It was fun! Here are some photos:

I knew as soon as I started that I was so happy to be with BTO this summer, but recent events have made me realize how much I actually love and care for each and every person I’m working with! I’m having one of the best summers ever and I’m so sad that I’ll have to be leaving in a month:( Boo! I’m going to miss my new friends a lot a lot a lot

But putting that aside, there are still many activities to be done in our free time! We’ve been talking about BTO olympics, zombie party, prom, and more trips to the beach! Exciting times to be had with the lovely beyonders. I can’t wait!

In the morning we have our first music rehearsal for the next show and I am just so excited to learn how to walk like A. Mann. I’m really excited to start up something that is not the Marvelous Wonderettes. As much as I absolutely LOVE Wonderettes, I need something else or all this smiley, prom, lollipop craziness is going to make me seem more insane than I usually am! I’ve heard great things about A. Mann so far, I can’t wait

Great news! The owl pillows are catching on. Everybody wants a cute, cuddly owl. They’re contagious. I knew they wouldn’t be long making fun until they started getting jealous that they didn’t have one of my little owl friends. Muaha!

I should definitely be sleeping. Usually when I walk into my room, there is fabric everywhere and I start making more pillows for hours and hours, but I really have to catch some Zzz’s so I can’t get distracted this time. This is just a note to self; a promise even

  In March I was involved in a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. You’ve all heard about the curse and all the superstitions that surround the play. We’ll it should come as no suprise that the curse fell on me! Imagine, I hurt my foot during final dress rehersal and had to do the entire run with a limp! At least I was playing a drunk man and the limp, in my opinion) added comedic value!

  Unlucky for me we have a repeat! Last night we had our second showing of The Marvelous Wonderettes! The show was going great, ten times better than opening (we were saying our lines this time). I geuss because I hadn’t had an injury in a few months, it was due time. I fell. Lost my balance on a step or maybe even triped up in thin air. Regardless, here I am writing a blog, foot up on a pile of pillows, ice, painkilles and another war wound of a bruise! I may be a clutz but I geuss you could say I am a trooper!

  Aside from my tumble we will call it, it kind of sounds like a fancy dance move that way, the show was great.The audience seemed to be loving it and that is always rewarding! All of us have put alot of time and effort into this show, and personally it has been the most challenging peices I have ever worked on. I am still learning and I know that as the summer progresses (providing the swelling in my foot goes down) I will continue to learn. I can almost read music now..almost..not really..but almost! I am learning to do harmony, and Gert is teaching me about the placement of my voice. I’ve learned that tritones are tricky and step touching isn’t as easy as it looks!!!!!

  On that note, I have to get more ice. I’ve been doing 30 ice on 30 mins ice off!! I’m trying to be as carefull as possible today to insure that my foot will be good to go for tonight. Im not sure if Pablo could motor around quite the same with a limp!!!!!!!

Getting to know everyone was…interesting.  From The Wedding, to the newly high school graduate who can’t stop smiling, to my crazy wonderful roommate, to the sisters who attack each other on a daily basis, to the crazy cat lady (kiss) and everyone in between.

Then I started rehearsals for Boeing and Wonderettes.  That’s when the crazy hit the fan.  But sooo much fun.  Except for figuring out how to get to CONA and back every day, it was great.  And so these past few weeks have been insane.  But now that Boeing Boeing AND The Marvelous Wonderettes are up and sort of running – lol – life will soon return to a some-what normal thing.

So, to sum up this ridiculously short blog – life is good.  Getting paid to do what I love = a dream.  Getting to work with Steve and Jaime = a very interestingly great experience.  Watching The Office every night with my new family = amazing (that’s what she said).  Living with 2 million ants = not so great but sadly getting used to it.  And having a GREAT summer = priceless (had to say it)

PS:  I love my Wonderettes!…and Daisy!

So this is what I do after I’ve been reading lines and singing songs and rehearsing all day! I sit on my bed and sew owl plushies… I’m totally lame but it’s fine I’m really okay with it

The Marvelous Wonderettes opens tomorrow night and I am very excited but also nervous but definitely more excited so I’m trying not to let the nerves get to me! Being a happy Wonderette is really tiring. You wouldn’t think I’d be tired because it seems that I’m happy all the time anyway, but at the end of each day I am droppin’! It kind of feels good to come home and not smile which is kind of weird for me! But my cheeks hurt

I should probably go over my lines again before bed. Early mornin’ for rehearsals before the show! Yay!

We’ve been working flat out with the Marvelous Wonderettes – dance choreography, blocking, singing, and basically just being silly, happy-go-lucky, wonderettey girls! I honestly don’t know how Jamie is putting up with the 5 of us; so much girly-ness. We’re having such a laugh with it though. The characters are awesome!

We finished up our last NFLD/Canadian music show on Wednesday! It went really great, I think! Now hopefully we’ll get started up again on the love show. I looove all the songs in it! Can’t wait

I’m pretty excited to see Boeing-Boeing. From what I’ve heard, it’s craziness and super fun! With that, and Wonderettes on the go, it’s definitely going to be an exciting month of theatre!

Well, I have to head to rehearsal. Lots of dances to learn and little time to learn them!

I’m really excited to see how they turn out.. I thought I would awaken to my dreaded roommate this morning looking like half a rainbow but unfortunately rinsing bleach out of dreads is serious business and it took her until 3 a.m. just to finish the bleaching process…so the colour will have to follow shortly.

This weekend is the Salmon Festival in Grand Falls-Windosr…I’ve never been to one and I kind of feel like I’m missing out. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not.. either way I feel like I should go at least once just for the experience…and that’s not going to happen this time around.

It’s interesting because KISS is playing Salmon Fest this year, so there’s going to be ridiculous amounts of people everywhere.

I have been tweeting Shannon Tweed to try to get her to come to one of our shows… She hasn’t responded but I can’t say I was really expecting her to respond, or even confirm anywhere that she would come or not come. Even if Shannon does decide to drop by I doubt she would publicly announce it.. I don’t know. I figured there would be no harm in trying. I know it would mean a lot to our group and it would just be frigging awesome. We’ll see I guess.

Salmon Fest also means one other thing: Guys…in bands. That makes me sound like a boy crazy teenager, I’m not…haha yeah I’ll just stick with “I’m not”. It’s slim pickin’s here in Gander, so I’m sure the single ladies of BTO, myself included, will have an eye out this weekend for a nice boy to talk to. It would be completely false and unrealistic to say otherwise. Maybe we’ll go check out Legends and see if anything is on the go.

Hopefully the fact that there’ll be so many more people floating around this lovely town, we’ll see a spike in our numbers.. that would be wonderful. We aren’t doing too bad here, but you could always use a few extra bodies in the theatre.. especially now where the season hasn’t fully kicked into high gear.

we’ll have to wait and see what happens… which is the case for just about everything this summer.

Secondly I figured since I’ve been here for over 2 weeks now, that I should probably try to start writing, haha.

I haven’t done much work with live sound besides the experience from the Music Industry and Performance program, and this is the first time I’ve worked with theatre, but since starting this job I have learned a lot about working with the sound board and sound cues.  The most tedious part of the day is when sound equipment has to be moved from the theatre to the room up stairs when we have our dinner and a show performances. There’s a lot of breaking down and setting up of equipment and untangling of cords but it’s what I signed up for, and I don’t mind as long as our AMAZING group of performers can be heard at the end of it all.

We’ve got a good crowd to work with here at the company. They’re easy to get along with and a laugh to party with. So far I have witnessed a facebook marriage party and a penguin themed party and both have been a great time. I was also introduced to the game catch phrase which I have progressively been getting better at although I’m not sure the alcohol consumption while attempting to play the game was helping my cause… haha… ha.. This is gonna be a great summer!!

Now I have to get some work done making a list of sound cues and what not, then working the sound for tonight’s music show Our Music: Then and Now!!!

While Cheryl, Steve’s mama, is on her England/Scotland adventure I’m in the office answering the phone and taking reservations, along with my regular communications duties. Playing secretary is best kind though.. sitting in the office looking at the nice weather sucks, but I’ve worked the job before at my parent’s old campground. I was basically trained from a young age to take people’s personal information and tell them what they get in exchange. Then, it was a campsite and maybe some firewood — now it’s tickets and maybe some dinner. Either way, the job is basically the same. Nudding to it.

I answer phones

Just then a lady from Australia called and asked me a boat load of questions about the fest and our dinner shows — her and a group of others are coming. She had such a cool accent. Accents are something that I really, really love. They’re so interesting to listen to and I never consider the fact that I have one myself.. I guess no one really considers that fact until you have to, and by have to I mean put in a situation where it becomes very evident that, yes, you indeed have an accent. That’s only happened to me a few times though — usually it’s more subtle like someone at school (in NB) would call me out for saying a word differently.. apparently I drag out A’s when they’re in words…who knew.

Sometimes I wear sunglasses when I answer phones.

I think it would be pretty cool (and if all goes well this will happen) if I move to a place where Newfie-speak is so foreign people will ask me where I’m from. I like being asked that question when I’m away…gives me an excuse to rant and roar about how lovely a place I come from…that, and being asked “where are you from, anyway?” is usually the beginning of a good conversation — opens up the opportunity for me to ask them questions about where they’re from followed by anecdotes and the like.

I like having conversations if you haven’t guessed. I need to find someone who likes to talk as much as me so we can balance one another out. Now there’s a task.

Life in Gander has been flying on past. I Still never know what day it is, or how far into July we are… we’re still on July right? It’s finally summer as far as the weather goes and the girls of 208, like Kayla said in her last blog, went to the beach on our day off. We should have gone much earlier, but being as indecisive as we all are, we didn’t decide on anything until after 4 in the evening. But once that decision was made, we all suited up, grabbed towels, and ran out the door within 5 minutes. The water was pretty cold but once you got used to it, it was amazing. Four of the five of us did the run-and-jump scenario several times trying to get a picture.. I guess one downside of having dreads is fussing with them when they get wet, so Sarah was the photographer and chief fire-maker for the trip. She’s a damn good fire maker, among all other things (Sarah is a Wizard).

Anyhow its taken me a long time to write this blog (which appears to be about nothing in particular). In between the phone, the door, and talking to people blog writing gets paused a lot. So this me wrapping it up.
